    • Summary

      Manufacturing engineer provides technical support for machining and other manufacturing functions; provides technical interface with product engineering for information exchange; provides tools and fixtures as required for manufacturing and prototype machining of standard products, evaluates tooling vendors for cost competitiveness and quality; researches cost information as required for new product tooling and manufacturing; researches and purchases machinery, equipment and tools for the whole manufacturing process, including lay-out and placement of the equipment/devices and their connections, and maintains extensive documentation of the processes/data used in the manufacturing process. Creates, updates and maintains manufacturing work instructions; works with engineering and machining to improve cycle times with the incorporation of new tooling and programming techniques; identifies and trouble shoots machine breakdown; evaluates returned goods with customer service to assure product meets restocking criteria before credit is issued and material is returned to stock; Conducts research on product defects in cooperation with product and process engineering for cause and effect determination; Designs, develops and produces, where feasible, dies, jigs and fixtures used to facilitate efficient and effective manufacturing operations using CNC equipment or other manual manufacturing equipment where possible and maintains prints on all dies, jigs, fixtures and cutting tools for manufacturing with CAD software; installs and facilitates "World Class" quality audit and testing procedures for raw materials and for process and finished products in accordance with ISO standards; visits suppliers and/or customers as necessary to confer on specific quality situations; compiles and writes training material; conducts training sessions on quality assurance activities; evaluates non-conforming material (for purchased and/or manufactured products) and identifies disposition. Advises purchasing and engineering of purchased material quality concerns and inputs data (rejection ticket information) into non-conforming material Access database for analysis by Quality personnel; writes/runs CMM programs and makes manual inspections using the CMM; performs various inspections as needed to ensure that current ROSS products meet or exceed ROSS Engineering Standards; prepares or assists with the preparation of charts that depict manufacturing current status, as well as makes recommendations to improve current trends; estimates production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions; confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.

    • Education

      BS In Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, preferred; Minimum of Technical diploma or AS degree in an industrial or manufacturing discipline; ASQ CQE or ASQ CQT certification with a machining background; or Journeyman Machinist card with appropriate diverse experience.

    • Experience

      Minimum of five years experience in a progressive manufacturing role working with various conventional machining equipment as well as CNC equipment with multiple axes; fixturing and tooling design experience. Working with fluid power and mechanical assembly in an engineering or manufacturing environment for 3-5 years. Experience training others in manufacturing products or processes.

    • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

      Basic knowledge of electronic and mechanical devices. Tool and fixture making exposure; tool and manufacturing cost estimating; CNC programming; machining and fixturing techniques; experience and training with a CAD software package, developed machining programs; experience in machine maintenance and repair.

  • CNC Machine Operator Posted: 04/26/22 Lavonia, GA

    • Summary

      Experienced individual who can read blueprints, set up machines using instructions and use gauges, calipers and micrometer equipment to inspect machined parts. Maintain ISO standards through continuous improvement activities and help develop and improve upon current machining processes. Expected to deburr parts, perform preventive maintenance on machines, and use knowledge, skills and abilities to support Lean manufacturing processes.

    • Education

      Must be a high school graduate, or equivalent, with related vocational classes or degree preferred.

    • Experience

      Minimum one year CNC machining experience.

    • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

      Must be able to transport 50 lbs, work and communicate effectively in a team environment, and be PC literate.
